Mastering the Tablescape
Mastering the Tablescape

It’s Masters week. In the Midwest it feels like the official start of golf season. We start talking about breakout years, how much we’re going to golf this year, and dreaming of winning the club championship. Of course we are also waiting for the course to open, but the green jacket makes it feel like it is right around the corner.

This Wednesday we are looking at Mastering the Tablescape. I am sure you are planning to watch the Masters so why not invite some friends and have some fun. I’ve set the table for you, feel free to steal all these ideas.

  • TV event parties call for a buffet. Guests can mingle, watch TV, and fill their plates as much as they want.
  • Start with a great centerpiece. I used a vase I had on hand and filled it with golf balls I have been collecting throughout the years (If you zoom in you can see the first time I broke 100 was 8/30/03. My husband grabbed that out of the 18th hole and said, “you're going to want to remember this.”) The golf cart on top I got from Amazon
  • Jane Fifteen Thirty has all the dishware you need. I set the buffet with all our serving pieces and added our course inspired plates at each end.
  • Hostess Tip: Put plates on each end of the buffet and napkins and utensils in the center. Allows for great flow and everyone can fill a plate hands free.
  • Don’t forget the beverage station. Green glasses of course. The signature drink at the Masters is the Azalea Cocktail. It is named after the famed 13th hole at Augusta National Golf Club. Check out the recipe here. That golf bag is actually a pen set that usually sits on my desk, got that off Amazon too.
  • Create the perfect Masters menu: pimento cheese, bar-b-que, and egg salad sandwiches; potato chips, caramel popcorn and chocolate chip cookies.
  • Hostess Tip: Have fun and it’s ok to cry during the player’s back stories and when the underdog wins.

Happy Masters Wednesday!
